Kaimai Cycles Twilight Series
Due to the popularity of the Kaimai Cycles Points Series on Tuesday nights we need to implement some rules to ensure everyone’s safety and efficient running of the club night. It is not an easy task to run a bike race for 80 enthusiastic people (ranging from 7 years to over 70). We can all do our part to make jobs easier for Race Officials. New members & volunteers are welcome! 1. Races start at 6.30pm sharp! 2. Register your entry before 6.10pm to help handicapper. 3. Helpers-we require one parent to look after the kids every night - no parent, no kids racing! Plus 3 others to help run the race every time, bring your bike and if Bev does not need you, then you can race. Please volunteer at the race the week before, if no volunteers then people will be selected. A list of names will be held to keep an eye on who is helping each week. It’s only fair everybody has a turn and it is not the same people every week volunteering- please don’t make us do a roster! 4. Demerit Points Introduced-due to the large numbers we are forced to introduce demerit points for bad behavior-standing on the road, erratic/dangerous riding, talking to officials while they are working, you will be given one warning then points will be deducted for future offenses. A list of offenders will be monitored. 5. No parking on any drive-ways All Bolton Road finishes- after the race please remain with the club trailer at the start line, do not go backwards on the course to the finish 6. No standing on the middle of the road before or after racing. Please stay on the grass or go warm up! 7. No talking to the handicapper, judge or time keeper while they are doing their jobs. They are trying to get results out quickly and correctly. If you keep interrupting them you are slowing everyone down. 8. Ensure your bike is in TOP order, get it serviced regularly, check your cleats often (remember who sponsors the Tuesday night racing Kaimai Cycles) 9. While riding keep left as possible road rules still apply even if you have a number on your back. Cars often judge ALL cyclists on the one cyclist they see doing something wrong. 10. Please heed the advice of more experienced riders. They are trying to help you. 11. Fees: Fees payable before you get your number, no rain checks. a. Club members – FREE b. Non club members $2.00 per night (max of 3 nights only). c. To join the club summer series is $30.00 to cover your public liability d. To join the club for the whole year is $65.00 (for full Morrinsville Wheelers Program Open Grade - $55 for U13/U15/U17 BikeNZ National Membership including racing in NZ, WBOP, Morrinsville). e. Members of other clubs $5.00 to ride per twilight race. 12. Please pay Roz Reekie May for any money changing hands on Tuesday nights. This means that Bev can concentrate on other jobs! All monies to be in a labeled envelope with your details (name/amount/cause for money) on outside and all appropriate forms to be filled in on inside of envelope (i.e. club registration form) . No envelope, no monies taken. 13. Please do not interrupt judges for your times. They will be put onto the club website: www.morrinsvillewheelers.org.nz 14. Results-only the top 3 results and fastest time will be read out on the night, all other results will be on the website. These rules are not to put a kybosh on your fun. They are there for your safety and the smooth running of Tuesday night racing. Your efforts will be appreciated by all. From the Morrinsville Wheelers Cycling Club Committee.
